PARLIAMENT VOTE #10
An Act to regenerate the nether.

If this act passes: The Nether will be completely regenerated so that all chunks will contain Nether Quartz.

All Members of Parliament may vote.
For the act to pass, a majority of voting MPs must vote in favour.

Any of the following people may choose to veto this vote, as they are active and own towns in the nether.
NOTE: If this vote passes all current Nether Towns will be destroyed. If this vote passes you will have a week to clear your items from these villages. Any of the above Village Owners can veto this vote, either by posting on this board or by messaging Ako, Air, or Runek.

Peng and I did a lot of stuff in the nether. Ex. Blaze farm. I would say no.

Vote vetoed.

Remember that you can still find Nether Quartz by going out into 'new' chunks that were not yet generated at the time of the update.

Dammit guys, Quartz woulda been much easier to find!
And you could rebuild your blaze farms easily!
But, your decisions.

I didn't even know I owned anything in the nether?

Anyways, you can find quartz about 1k blocks out from Qualia spawn. It's not that hard to get, guys.

What if in some plug in or in any other way chuncks with things players want to keep can be protected while other chuncks will be regenerated

Yeah I have a 100% feeling that sort of plugin doesn't work and isn't there

talking about schematics, then thats a hole diffrent story

Well we could get schematics of peoples builds and paste them in

It actually is possible to isolate the chunks that have player builds and not regenerate them. This could also be done, as Catty said, via schematics.

The tricky part is that those chunks would not match up with the surrounding chunks, so you could end up with a 16x16 square block floating above a lava pit, or a village underneath a lake of lava. It's probably not viable.

Once the server is all up to date I'll do a test and see what happens, but don't hold your breath. :P

You could copy them, then like plant them into the ground if you know what I mean, then in creative see what you can do you make it more 'natural'

Problems with that are 1. The time involved (there are several villages, farms, etc.); 2. Worldguard protection would need to be adjusted as well; 3. The netherportals connecting to the regular world towns can only move so far from their normal position before they connect to a different above-ground portal, which could create issues.

In short, too much manual editing. Unless another Admin wants to spearhead this, it's not feasible. I'll try a regen on the test server leaving the village chunks alone, but we're limited to what we can feasibly do.

It's a great deal of manual work to do a schematic paste of such large areas and then making it look natural again for several towns and farms.
It could be realistically done if only a few people REALLY want their nether towns and the rest can live with them being deleted.

Hire people with a little money from the donations to do the manual work

Netherforts would be regenerated fresh, in different locations.

I would definitely vote YES.
Keep the parts people want and regen the rest, who cares if it look natural, most of the parts of the nether that I have been to has been raped and is far from looking natural anyway.

Thanks to LUISC99 we were able to utilize a plugin to add Nether Quartz to the chunks of the nether that were already generated.

If you find yourself in a chunk and there doesn't seem to be any quartz, just leave the chunk and come back in a few minutes - the plugin processes slowly but surely, and we have a lot of chunks to go through. :)

Enjoy! :D
