There's more than 3 polls. This is a weird statement.
Buy yeah it's closer than you'd think. Clinton with the advantage, but Trump could certainly win. Also worth noting that polls have been unreliable this year.

Both major candidates were deplorables. This was a lose-lose situation. Shaming the voters for not voting for a corrupt wall street shill is directing your shaming at the wrong place.
Blame The Clinton Foundation, The Democratic National Committee, The Clinton Campaign, Correct The Record and various other Clinton PACs, and most of the major american media outlets for all working together to prop up clinton and trump. They knew trump was the only opponent clinton could beat, so they took a giant gamble and fucked up colossally. This is on them. They had a massively popular candidate that could have destroyed trump. Instead they rigged their primaries and gave people Hillary fucking Clinton... which is like the only person on earth who couldn't beat god damn Trump.
The best that can come of this is a fire gets lit under the progressive movement like never before.

Except like, she did win the popular vote in the primaries.
Except, like, the process was rigged in favour of Clinton at every level. If you had concerns about voting eligibility with Brexit, then holy fuck the democratic primary process will infuriate you. Voter suppression was strong in a lot of the states. It was not democratic.
Also it's worth noting that "popular vote" in the primaries is an unusual statistic, since it is done state-by-state, often with very different processes in different states. Some don't even release the vote tally to public scrutiny. It's pretty insane when you start to delve into it, and how it is essentially designed to guide an outcome rather than foster democracy.
