Yesterday there was a heated debate about the best minecraft woods and I'm sad to report that most of the players are WRONG
Here is the official report, everyone must abide by it. Note: this isn't including the new nether wood.
1. Spruce (This one is not up for DEBATE)
2. Oak
3. Acacia
4. Birch
5. Jungle
6. Dark Oak
Thank you for your time, Dark Oak SUCKS
-
Is this just a ranking of the logs, or all the wooden things with the typing? becasue I think dark oak should be swapped with jungle exclusively based on the doors
-
Ya is this just planks? What are the stipulations? We need details!
-
I would say logs and planks, because when you get into doors the whole playing field changes
-
Dark oak being last is an outrage! Should be in the top half without question

This is false, it is too dark of a wood that it looks icky

1. Spruce (This is irrefutable.)
2. Oak (Solid. Classic.)
3. Birch (The planks are really good for light accents with texture, while not being white)
4. Dark Oak (Great dark accents without being black)
5. Acacia (Ok, don't hate it, hard to use well)
6. Jungle (Weird tone, rarely use)
This is the correct list and is set in stone. It was pencil on stone, but it's on stone so nobody change it.
-
I respect all of it except Dark Oak. Fuck dark oak! >:(
Acacia is beautiful when used correctly hence why it's higher on the truly official list I provided above.
-
1 - Spruce
2 - Acacia
3 - Dark Oak
4 - Birch
5 - Oak
6 - Jungle
If you disagree you're just jelly *hair flick*

This is wrong on so many levels
-
I think I've seen Jungle or Acacia used tastefully like 2 times over my entire lifetime. Dark oak definitely does not deserve to be rated below acacia or jungle.
-
I am willing to switch Jungle and Dark Oak, because I do hate Jungle a lot and I agree it has less good uses. But Dark Oak is terrible and Acacia is better then it

While I disagree with this list, I cannot reasonably refute you because of dat hair flick. dat sass

This is the closest I think anyone has come to a good decision, we should not be so hasteful to judge dark oak, personally it goes above birch for me just because of the logs and stripped logs, far more applicability than birch, acacia and jungle combined.
Dark Oak SUCKS
im in no way saying it's number 1 but at least give dark oak the credit it deserves, you suck.

i watched you build a skyscraper out of just jungle wood, and you have the AUDACITY to so boldly hate upon such a rich tasteful dark wood. I think you just want to divide us
also acacia is grey and orange ::), these are not wood colours. TRUE WOOD IS BROWN.

Oh shit I've been capped :-[
I know when I've been bested so I shall concede victory to you dark oak lovers.
You do have to admit that jungle skyscraper is very nice looking though :P

I do, looks very splendid
Would it look better in dark oak tho? who knows
-

The grey logs are beautiful though, a nice neutral wood block that goes with loads of other blocks. The planks pull acacia down, but if this were a list based purely on logs acacia deserves to be #1

i must admit i use it for that fairly often

There is no way it would look good in dark oak, the logs and stripped logs don't have enough contrast as well as the blocks. Dark Oak is very niche
I will also continue to boast for Acacia as it gets more hate then it deserves. I understand as I used to be an Acacia hater myself but it truly does look fantastic as an accent wood.

You accidentally put a "3." in front of Spruce. Oops, we all make mistakes, it's okay. You can use the "Edit" feature on the forum to replace it with a "1." though, so it's easily corrected.

Afer reading this detailed discussion, I have come to the conclusio that all wood is bad, and should be burnt, STONE is the only viable and good material for building, or anything else

Don't even get everyone started on a stone argument. (Granite is the Jungle wood of stone)
I think we can all agree that Jungle is the worst, Acacia is at least pretty. I still hate Dark Oak, but I will concede that Jungle is worse. I can't understand how Yvette sees Dark Oak as better than Spruce, Dark Oak is basically dingy Spruce, But I will let her say her own peace before I judge too hard.
-
Don't you dare put granite on the level of jungle! You take that back!

Pink and hard to use right? sounds like Jungle to me!

Day that is just wrong
Also Dallas has given me strict therapy and reform and I can admit the only reason I hate dark oak is because I hate the logs.

:( jungle is so good though it's nice and orangey
-
people who think jungle is bad are just bad at building sorry
-
one of my favourite styles of building is jungle with sand, that will always be perfect
(also mixing jungle with oak is nice)
-
I think my only issue with jungle is I don't like pink so I prefer using other woods
-
I don't see that much pink, its more of a super cool orange - light brown
-
Yeah I’ve always seen jungle as the super orange one and acacia as the nice pinky one
-

I'm sorry but what? Acacia pinky? It's a beautiful orange color
-

I RETRACT ALL PREVIOUS STATEMENTS ABOUT THE ORANGE ACACIA AND THE PINKISH JUNGLE. I HAVE BEEN SHOWN THE ERROR OF MY WAYS AND I DEEPLY APOLOGISE FOR ANY CONFUSION CAUSED BY MY SIMPLEMINDED TOMFOOLERY.
-
Glad to bring you to the light Mali!

Haven't used them enough yet to have a full opinion but I do think they'll have good applications in building tbh

They are beautiful! At first I wasn't sure how I would use them but since I have fallen in love with how they look as a beautiful colored accent
