Isn't the music traditionally picked by the family? I have only been to 3 funerals in my life, so I'm not too familiar with them. However, the family of the diciest picked the music in all 3 of em.

It really depends on the family and the deceased. Some people will explicitly delineate in their last will and testament what they want played, or they will provide a videotape telling family members their last wishes for their remains. Sometimes they just tell a certain person how they want things done quietly, and they just take care of it.

If it's not specified, then yes, the family does pick the music.

If I were to pick the song at my own funeral, it would be quite awkward because that would be me, at the funeral, picking the song. Oh! you mean like if you told your family before you died.... okay.

Ummmmmm, I would go with an old hymn. Probably a classic like "How Great Thou Art" or something like that.... because, you know, "Amazing Grace" is over played.
