Off-Topic Discussion / Realistic Roleplaying
« on: 11 November 2012, 07:41:03 PM »
Hey guys,
I'm just checking if anyone here at VC has any interest or even past experience with Roleplay'ing in GTA:Sanandreas. Don't be put off by the eight year old title. Through the Multi Theft Auto Client and its LUA scripting, it's possible.
Although it's not for the faint of heart, once in game most people take it seriously. Character stories are made, characters develop and grow as in real life. Along with a working realistic economy, houses, vehicles and land of all budgets can be bought, male and female skins, weapons etc.
Basically it's a second life where you can do anything, live out realistic but versatile settings, whether they be legal or illegal.
You're not limited to one character but get into trouble and your favorite character could be killed permanently.

Although GTA:SA is a very visual game, the RP aspect is mostly text based, using the /me and /do command's carry out actions and interact with other players and objects.

I ask this as a community that I've been with since founding is going through a tough time and is great need of players for it to have any hope of continuing. Even though it's script and staff are by far much, much ahead of any of the competitors, we're losing out big time.

For me it's got to be the 100m hurdles.
Silly hurdles, we need you not.

As Kovos said, bad attitudes are not needed here, throwing a hissy fit NEVER gets anyone anywhere.
You were killed in a PVP area and although that might've been a dick move it's completely legit

Do you understand the definition of a Donation? A donation is a gift, you are not purchasing a service and therefore you cannot just request it to be returned.

Sorry if I should'nt be posting here. People who think they have special god given right to bitch and moan and those who believe the server owes them something really grind my gears big time.

Good riddance I say.

Looks a clean classic bike but I'm more of a RZ350 man myself;)

Yep, that's the melon stream, the opposite stream has pumpkin and the opening in the mouth is a zombie crusher xp farm. Not very efficient but if I'm building in the area the spawner can churn out good numbers.

Balile An nGowan Needs you!
[/b][/size]

Balile An nGowan is a village based around an NPC village, built mainly by Diomand_Pickaxe and I.
It is overall themed as a humble village, nothing outrageous.

I am looking for easy going people who have decent building skills and enjoy building in the same theme as I.
Banter, pranks and gifts are encouraged within the village members.

The village has many facilities, all in keeping with the humble theme. Automatic farms and animal breeding pens, vertical and orthodox wheat farms, stacked melon farm and numerous xp/mob farms.

Some examples of theme that I try to keep within the village below.

From scanning the Bukkit forums there seems to be no recognition of the lag problems from the actual staff. Worries me..

I actually enjoyed that wall of text.

Savor it, it doesn't happen very often.

« on: 13 August 2012, 07:51:32 PM »
Dogs. Cats can be temperamental and too dependant.
Raising dogs from pups is an unbelievable experience. When I was 5 my father bred and raised a litter of 5 hunting hounds, beagle x foxhound, just recently the last of the litter, Patch (Very original) died.
Although sad, looking back on the life of the litter it was amazing. Dogs, especially working dogs are so eager to please, whether that be in their role while hunting or general frolicking in the fields.
For an animal that was bred for fixed assets, it's nose and prey drive, their loyal and obliging temperament made them great family pets also.
I've never truly had a "Pet", as in an animal that serves no purpose other than companionship but the satisfaction of raising and training a pup from birth and seeing it carry out it's given task (Cover hunting, coursing, killing or retrieving, etc.) is immense.
Some may see hunting using running dogs, sighthounds or grounddogs as a tool for hunting cruel but only those who understand working dogs would understand their prey drive, eagerness to please and need to be given a job or task to carry out. Collies are a great example of this, non working collies become agitated or even viscous. From my experience, aren't the overwhelming majority of the "tailgate attackers", collies? Non working collies must be given intense obedience training and many are kept busy with agility training.

What was the question again?

TL:DR - Dogs.

Pretty unbearable. Can't understand how there's 16 people in the server still functioning in "Dat lag".

I can vouch that Scopensnipzz_99 has light fingers. He was kicked from my village after over 5 instances of stealing from me and other players.

Logblock hasn't been working for me for quite some time.
Cj said it wasn't online but I may have misinterpreted him.

I've resorted to chesting everything on my person every time I log out. I've lost near enough a half stack of diamonds in armor and tools at this stage.

General Discussion / Re: End portal
« on: 6 August 2012, 10:13:00 AM »
It's quite easy for a developed player of the server, it is not, however, for a newly joined player who does not give a rats behind about the state of The End.
IMO, the right to use The End should be earned. Earned through gathering these materials required to locate The End's portal.
It's through gathering these materials the player will appreciate and refrain from abuse.
With random new players running willy nilly in and out of the The End it is no longer something special to those who took the time to find the portal legitimately and the island itself, I expect, will be ruined in no time at all.

It's no more than 200 blocks from Qualia.
Making it even easier to find makes it even easier to be abused.

General Discussion / Re: Server Growing Steadily...
« on: 2 August 2012, 07:26:58 AM »
I've seen this in a lot of other servers. (not specifically MC)
The servers rapidly grow during the summer and drop significantly as school comes back around. Some times it can be quite depressing for a new server to grow so quick and get their hopes up only to see the big numbers drop significantly as summer comes to an end.

I'm not saying that is the case with VillageCraft but I've seen it time and time again.

Nope.
That works for me in the overworld, but doesn't seem to work in the End or the Nether, don't ask me why.

Off-Topic Discussion / Re: New MineCraft Update
« on: 1 August 2012, 11:40:53 AM »
It's easy to demand an update without knowing what goes into actually updating the server.
Plugins such as lockette, block protection, nocheat etc. must also be updated to reduce any hassle such as exploits, crashes, grief or stealing.

It'd cause much more hassle than it's worth. I would expect the server should be running 1.3 in the next week or two?

Reports & Grievances / Quite the predicament
« on: 1 August 2012, 11:30:05 AM »
Quite the predicament indeed.
Not sure if this is the right forum for this but it is a Grievance.
I done the idiotic act of afk'ing at my Blaze farm for just a likkle bit too long.
My seven year old PC cannot handle 250+ Blaze.
I am running less than 0 fps. Probably 1 frame per 10 seconds. I have "Thrown" 5 splash potions and even spammed the crusher but nothing to avail.
I'm asking if a mod could do a regional /killall at the spawner for me, please.
Anyone willing, forum PM me for the co-ords.

Thanks again.

General Discussion / Re: Idea: Make being a Farmer more worth-while
« on: 28 July 2012, 11:14:43 AM »
Farming shouldn't be more profitable, period. As in any real life farm, large quantities of a product must be made to make any worthwhile profit.
The small profit during the sale of wheat, seed, pumpkin or melons is correct as it is. (If not slightly over-inflated)
The money to be made is not in the direct products of farming but processing these further.
Bread, cake, cooked pork or steak.

For an example, a lumber yard purchases it's raw material, lumber, at very low prices. It is not until this is processed into wooden planks, sleepers etc. that the profit margin is increased. Then again if a carpenter purchases this processed lumber and produces fine furniture that the profit margin is increased once again.

If so, I witnessed him beckoning Xane to take the diamonds and "forget about everything."

General Discussion / Re: How do YOU make money on Villagecraft?
« on: 25 July 2012, 06:35:39 PM »
What appeal has cash in a game that is solely about gathering resources? Honestly? In my opinion it ruins the fun of the chase. Cashing in enderpearls and just /warp market'ing whenever you need something is unbearably boring.
Is it honestly just me that enjoys caving and exploring for materials?
