Hey!
I was browsing the forums and the website and have noticed that many of the important pieces of information is kept in a post, or on the website which still claims spew are in 1.3. None of this stuff is user editable, and is rarely updates... I thought it might be a good idea to set up a VC wiki, hosted on this same domain like the forums is, but under /wiki page instead, giving players more freedom over updating the information. I was thinking rather than replacing the forums, that it could be used to post things like a staff list, upcoming events, plugin list, market prices, and maybe a page each for active villages on the server and some information about them, as this could be useful to new players.
I have noticed that a popular program to do the job is
MediaWiki which the guys over at
www.minecraftforge.net use, and I also use it on my website. It is very simple to install, and works on Linux, and is easy to configure. Any players could just log in, and add/correct any information they feel is needed for the wiki.
I think this would be worth considering, as it would benefit new players and help the VC community to work together to make the server's events and features more well known, and displayed neatly. This way, anyone could also update any information that may be old, outdated or incorrect, to take some of the work off the admins and keep everyone updated.
