Emeralds are the rarest thing in Minecraft and should sell for something 500 - 2k. I like emeralds.

it isn't use for craft except for a solid block
it is used to trade with villagers
but the chances of finding an inhabited  village are slim unless you go far away from everyone
or you can buy an egg

Because we don't sell EVERYTHING at the market
Feel free to sell em to other players
But it's a survival server, we're not going to hand you everything.

Also, how would you value them? It's not as if villager trading is balanced at all is it? If we sold / bought them in the market, the economy would be ruined.

We decided that the value of emeralds is too hard to judge, with the way villager trading works, it is almost impossible to price them in such a way that could avoid exploits. We decided to leave them to players, and not have them in the server-run market at all. We are building a player-run market, and you will be able to buy and sell things like emeralds there.

I'll sell you a villager, egg. for 1k. see if it'll trade for paper or wool. make a nice farm. and then unlimited emeralds.
