Hey There, People!
« on: 25 July 2012, 12:10:12 AM »
Welcome to the Reports and Grievances board! This is a place where you, the player, have the ability to post any instance of harm done to you either by another player or by a mod - however, for purposes of my role in particular, I will be handling events specifically between a player and a mod, in order to ensure fairness in judgement by the staff.

What does that mean?

What it means is that I will be basically representing the players in a variety of disputes that they may have with a judgement a mod has passed. Say, for example, you do something like break a house down in the wilderness, and an admin bans you for it for a specific period of time. If you feel like that ban was issued unfairly (say, there was confusion about who the house belonged to, etc.) then you post right here explaining your case with the format below:

In Game Name:
Mod/Admin that you disagree with:
Problem:
Punishment issued to the player? Yes/No
Link to ban appeal (if applicable):
Evidence, such as screenshots or a request for a time log reference:
Approximate time the dispute occurred in-game:
Further notes:

Not all of these fields will be applicable to you, so feel free to remove what you don't need. If there's something you feel I left out, drop it into the "further notes" category.

If you don't post with the format above, your dispute review request will probably take longer to review, because I'll have to ask you for all of the information above. Therefore, it is pretty important that you use the format above - it speeds up the process!

What if I can't contact you on the forums, or it's a small dispute and it's not worth making a forum post? Can I contact you in-game?

By default, I would much prefer forum posts to in-game communication; however, that doesn't mean I can't step in real-time and help you out with situations. If you feel it pertinent that someone help you out right then and there, then feel free to call me aside and I will be happy to step in and help mediate the problem as it happens.

That means that you must be careful, though, because freaking out/cursing/getting angry does not make the problem get solved any quicker. Forum posts at least give people the chance to calm down and read what they submit, and in-game interaction doesn't have that luxury. If you decide to start cursing up a storm, spamming and nonsense like that, I will have nothing to do with your dispute. I cannot understand nonsensical shouting about things, regardless of who is right, and I cannot make an accurate judgement when someone is in my ear screaming "THAT ADMIN IS A BITCH" every five seconds. That just makes me want to ask for you to be muted!

You will be able to see me in-game with my [R] tag, which designates me as a Representative, so just message me in-game if there is an issue in place. Do not message me to read forum posts or to ask me to rule in your favor, I do not take bribe requests lightly and I will report them and immediately rule in the favor of the admin - corruption is not tolerated. Cases will be reviewed individually, carefully, and independently of staff, so that you can be assured of a clear case judged solely by the facts. This means that cases must take time to be reviewed - I cannot just make a snap judgement, that's irrational and can lead to poor decisions.

I don't even trust contacting you on the forums, because I'm worried about being judged for what I post. Is there a way I can contact you that can't be logged/watched by the admins?

Yes, with a caveat - If you tell me something pertinent to the case, I am required to post it in a thread here that you create. If a case is of a sensitive nature, I will be glad to keep private your personal details, but after that discussion, I have to post the parts that are important to the case at hand in the forum, because the admins have to see all of the evidence as well to know why I make the decisions I make. That does not mean that I need to post about your personal, real-life details. I can keep those safe and anonymous, although if one of them is a reason why you did something, it will have to be explained somehow. We can determine how that will be done in private chat.

In addition, if you feel like a mod or admin is looming over your shoulder and you need to find a stress-free place to talk about the case without being reviewed (or if you wish to say negative things about an admin's performance and don't feel comfortable posting that for the world to see) then you can also contact me privately.

If you need to contact me, my Skype is Islid Davilas/Psitanium. If you need to contact me on Steam, my steam name is Islid. If there is another method of communication you would like to use, such as email or another chat program, I can make arrangements with you, provided they're reasonable requests.
