2017 Solar Eclipse
« on: 3 August 2017, 06:37:39 PM »
So, as some of you may know, that on the 21st of this month, there will be a solar eclipse. It will be total in some places, but only in some. What are you guys doing for it? It will be visible at least partially in the whole USA. I'm staying at home, we may have some friends over and watch the eclipse. It is like a 3 hour process, but it is gonna look awesome.

Very true, I've never seen a Solar eclipse and I LOVE astronomy so it will be really cool. I've seen several Lunar eclipses though, they are really cool. Especially when you have a telescope at home.

We are going to be driving along the line of the Eclipse, should be really cool.

I think Luis already made a thread about the Eclipse a few months ago.

Yeah, I can see it about 92% from my house. Here's how well I can see it: http://imgur.com/a/NJtK4
We do need special glasses, so here are some good ones: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NB09NHK?tag=space041-20&ascsubtag=[site|space[cat|NA[art|33797[pid|B01NB09NHK|NA[bbc|manual
Apologies for geeking out a bit, I just LOVE astronomy. Its a big hobby of mine, but I don't really want to get a undergrad in it. I really want to something in politics, lol.

Private sector, then politics. Otherwise you would be an out-of-touch, Washington elitist.

Adding on to the glasses thing, you can usually get them at the local Optometrist's office for not very much money.
