Prime Minister's Questions [Gere]
« on: 22 January 2018, 02:15:28 AM »
In an effort to increase transparency of my administration, address concerns from my citizens, and truly show that I want to know your thoughts, at the suggestion of a few citizens I am starting this thread. You are free to voice any questions, concerns, or other comments you wish and I will provide an official response as the Prime Minister of Gerelskovy as soon as I am able to. Additionally, I will use this as a thread to post updates on my premiership, as well as achievements.

I'm not sure. She voted for me before she got banned in my first term, and regardless of her faults she does want the best for Gere so I think she'd be happy with the direction I'm taking it.

Why has this government failed in revitalising the schools in Gere and neglected expanding agriculture in the countryside? When will the govt see to that more farms are built in Gere to fill the fields of good and arable land?

Last night, both the College and School in Gerelskovy were marked for assessment by my administration to determine whether they need to be rebuilt or renovated to be up to code, and what can be done to help bring more activity to them. I believe that through government help and appointing new teachers and classes, we can bring more activity to our schools.
Furthermore, expanding agriculture is a wholly unnecessary endeavor. Recently we have acquired new territories such as Svitford and Sapphire City, both with new farms, and given the urban sprawl of Gerelskovy and its transition from a resource based economy to a post-scarcity economy in the food industry, it is much more beneficial to provide new food markets and such rather than building farms. To prove our commitment to this, we have committed to renovating Gerrit's food market, and building new market stalls in the Market District, as well as clearing out old stalls from Lake Stone in addition to new ones for people to fill.

Why is the Prime Minister involved in the renovation of the capitol placing Gerelskovy into deeper deficit instead of focusing on the development of Undeveloped newly acquired colonial territories?

Phrasing it as a "deeper" deficit is rather dishonest. Throughout my entire first term we ran a surplus, putting in millions of dollars to Gere's cash reserve. At the moment we are deficit spending, and the reason for that is that I am working day and night to improve the quality of Gere, and therefore dont have as much time to AFK at our primary pumpkin farm. Also keep in mind that we have not even spent the money we made in our first term. Not only will these renovations bring new activity to Gere, the new business and residents will bring us into a higher surplus than before. By the end of my term, 1 month of deficit spending and 3 months of surplus, we will still have made a net contribution to the Treasury of Gere.

Is the prime minister aware of the fact that two necessary reforms, put up after a case of Partisan infighting was shot down by her party not out of dislike for the bill(The Prime minister admitted she would advocate for putting a similar bi-partisan bill up on a later date) but because of her own petty squabbles with the other parties in the chamber and that the Peoples party, and many Seatownian MP's previously in favor of the bill, changed their position to match that of the prime minister? This is no more disheartening than the fact that the second bill would allow MP's to be punished for allowing member villages of the Gerelskovian Empire to swear loyalty to a party or politician over the King or Gerelskovy was also pushed to be discussed on a later date by the Prime minister and this very method which would have been outlawed by this second bill was used to curtail Seatownian MP's, with more loyalty to the Prime minister than to Gerelskovy as a whole to put down a much needed reform. This action makes the Prime Minister, and the Peoples Party look less concerned with necessary reform to Gerelskovy, and more concerned with the advancement of their party and previous rivalries with the opposition.

Perhaps if a member of my party was not attacked a mere two days before the bill was proposed, we would have agreed to it. In fact, upon discussion with MP Jack Aubry, the victim in question, we both agreed that had the attack not occurred, this would be a great bill for Gere. However, the timing of the bill was simply too coincidental to garner our support. Perhaps if you think about the consequences of your actions in the future, you won't suffer from them.

and that the Peoples party, and many Seatownian MP's previously in favor of the bill, changed their position to match that of the prime minister?
Katkatdaddy changed her position due to a three-line whip in my party. She would face discipline otherwise. Presumably, the reason that MP RagsDeeBoo changed his vote is because he was unaware of the Conservative Violence against the Progressive Party.

The second bill had the support of the Progressives, we simply wanted some terms of it changed. Maybe if you presented it before it was signed, like every single other MP has done in the past, then the amendments could have been made then and there, and it would be passed right now. It isn't our fault that you signed a bill premature to proposing it, further proving you have NO interest in amendments or cooperation with others.

This action makes the Prime Minister, and the Peoples Party look less concerned with necessary reform to Gerelskovy, and more concerned with the advancement of their party and previous rivalries with the opposition.
All this criticism, coming from the assailant that has been attacking Progressive Party Members. You should count your blessings that the bill was knocked down, because we'd be charging you for crimes in the name of a political party had it passed.

Number one, the killing of Jack Aubry could hardly be called an "Assassination" if anything, it was some trolly killing in the outlands where the player in question was allowed to get his items back. Calling it an assassination and using it as justification to stop a bill which had the purpose of stopping actual political persecution in the future to safeguard the republic of Gere is incredibly dishonest and does nothing for you. All it does is further demonstrate the inability of your party to act democratically and look out for the democratic nature of Gerelskovy over your own ulterior partisan motives.

Do you have a number two or are you just attempting to sound like you have a point?
You knew Jack Aubry was a Progressive MP. I specifically requested that you leave him alone for this reason. Regardless of both of those things, you still chose to attack him. Even if it was, as you say, "trolly killing" (which Jack himself has not described it as), you still knew that killing him would have consequences to your position in Gere's Politics.

Historically, it has consistently been the Conservative Party undermining the Democracy of Gerelskovy. The Senate, which allowed Conservatives like Shen and Livid to vote multiple times, while restricting opposition members such as myself to only a single vote. Voter rigging in the Senate, where Chimechongas and Katkatdaddy were added to multiple regions last year to vote for the Conservatives. Recently, though I cannot confirm that the leadership of the Conservatives was complicit in this, there were 3 cases of voter fraud in the most recent election, in favour of the Conservatives. Additionally, while it was not illegal at the time, the Conservative Leadership was publicly seen bribing voters. Yet immediately after I was elected, I implemented Voter ID Laws, banned bribery, and moreso, I have been the only PM in history to appoint bi-partisan cabinets with representation from the opposition. However, I encourage you to continue telling me how I am attacking the democracy of Gerelskovy.

As a one-off, I also find it amusing how you dropped your other point about the second bill when it was your own error that lead to the lack of an amendment tonight.

Statement by: Leader of the Opposition, Livid MP Conservatives
To: Prime Minister; general public.

The actions of certain MPs, such as Assur, are not condoned by the leadership and have been reprimanded. We're committed to democracy and we don't believe that a democratically elected government such as the current one is a threat, despite vast disagreements. We will, however, fight to win the next election as we believe our ideas are best for Gerelskovy and will continue to oppose Progressive government.

I welcome a healthy democracy where my opposition respectfully disagrees and our battles are fought in parliament and the polls rather than in the fields. We wholeheartedly agree with the commitment to Democracy, and look forward to facing off against the Conservatives in the next fair and free election.
