1.13: Markers on maps
« on: 6 March 2018, 06:12:55 PM »
In today's snapshot you can now click a banner with a map, and it'll add it to a marker. The update seems to have a few of these small changes thrown in to make really helpful changes :)

That's good. I am constantly looking at the changelogs for this game and going "how was this incredibly basic no-brainer feature not in the game years ago?"

Minecraft feels so, so, so incomplete for such a massively successful (sales-wise) game. Imagine what it could be if Mojang put in 1/10th the effort as some of the modders/plugin makers/a normal game company. At the rate they're going, this game will feel "complete" in about 16 years.

How are actual visible fish just now becoming a thing!? Adding passive entities like that must be so incredibly easy, wtf. Oh, look, seaweed, only took 8 years.

This game could have birds, vehicles, animated magic powers, a functioning ecosystem, anything. It's ripe for interesting content. It frustrates me.

I need to show you a well-made modern mod pack sometime. They've changed loads since the old VC FTB days, often a much higher quality than they used to be

I agree though, there's so many tiny things they can add to the game really easily that they haven't. Seems like a wasted opportunity. Maybe one day when we eventually get whatever they call an API people will add everything they missed

18 November 2011, the day MC 1.0.0 was released, and the day an API was supposed to come with it. I'm thinking it's never coming. But sure, release it anytime guys.

Yeah, show me a modern modpack.

Yeah, show me a modern modpack.

There's a few popular ones, but one quite popular pack you can do what you like on is All The Mods 3, or if you're looking for a task-based pack with more structure to guide you through everything, you could try Modern Skyblock 3. Forge + MC has come a long way now though, unless something weird is going on, it's almost impossible for a mod not to be plug-and-play as long as you get the right MC version (and dependencies), so they're very customisable.
