I was setting up a system to alert me if the server goes down, and while I was doing it I decided to make it a somewhat nice-looking website, so it's available to anyone who wants it.
I present to you, the VC service status website.
You can view it here.
Every 10 minutes, all the servers that VC uses (the actual server, the website, discord, and Mojang's servers) will be pinged to make sure they're online, and their colour will change on the website to reflect their current status. If it's something that I can control, I'll get a text sent to my phone, so I know to try and fix it. And to try and make me fix it quickly, I'll get a text every 10 minutes.
Oh, and there's a cool graph at the bottom of the page showing how many people are online. I'd like to see that graph getting bigger soon
A small thing which you might (or might not) notice is it updates on the XX:X3 minute, so at 00:03, 00:13 etc. This is because it was occasionally catching the server while it was restarting, and I'd be getting texts when nothing was wrong. This means the graph time intervals might look slightly out, but it's okay. I should point out that while it updates every 10 minutes, the site has a 15 minute cache, so if it's used a lot, it might take a while for the changes to update on there.
This isn't something I expect you to really use all that often, but it's there if you ever need it. It's running completely independently to anything it monitors, so even if everything went down, it'd continue to ping things and update the website. If you're having issues connecting to anything (server, forums etc), check the website first, to see if it's an actual problem or not.
If you've got any suggestions or spot any problems, do let me know. This was mainly just a thing to keep me updated if anything broke, but I think it's useful to have public.
