Senate Vote #7: Speaker Election Guidelines #1
With the passing of this legislation, the following rules will dictate how future speakers of the senate are elected.
If "Yes" is majority, the following changes will be implemented on the server
If "No" is majority, the status quo will remain
Please vote either: Yes, to approve the bill; No, to disapprove the bill; or Abstain, to abstain from the vote.
This vote will be open for 5 days, but may be closed earlier if all senators have voted.
Internal Senate Rule 1:
All Speaker of the Senate elections will be held in the following manner: Senator names will be listed on discord in the senate-private channel with a number from 1-5 next to their names. To vote, each senator will use the react feature of discord to react with the emoji of any numbers between 1-5 corresponding to the number's respective senator who they would like to vote for. Senators can vote for as many senators as they approve of being speaker, including themselves. Each election will last 48 hours, if not all the senators have voted within this time or if there is a tie, another election will be called after the conclusion of the preceding one. Elections may happen infinitely until a speaker is chosen, however each individual election must be open for the full 48 hours, then be closed for another election to occur.
This election process can be streamlined through the use of the YAGPDB.xyz (Skynet) Bot. To initiate the vote process, use the -poll command as such:
-poll "Senate Session <x> Speaker Election" "Candidate #1" "Candidate #2" "Candidate #3" "Candidate #4" "Candidate #5" "Candidate #6" "Candidate #7"
This wording was proposed by Senator CyphurTheFox and Senator Gerritt.
