Carnival Chaos
« on: 8 August 2022, 10:32:05 PM »
Accused player(s): CRH
Accused of: Breaking rule #17
Player(s) effected: Purring_Goat
Time occurred:8/8/22 7pm est
Location: Village aka Talbuild (carnival event)

I was getting coins for the event, and asking if anyone could help with showing me how to use games and get more. I was then approached by crh in the possibility of getting coins in this underwater ship area. Honestly don't know the name but it's located in the carnival area.He told me there might be coins in the chest. I entered after being led by him and then I checked the chest as he fought a drowned. When I saw it was empty and went to turn around, crh was there. I was killed so quickly I couldn't even process the event nor go to another warp.  All of my items were stolen, I wouldn't care so much if it was just a kill to get my head but my whole inventory was stolen. I went /back and nothing was there. I was tricked to crh's benefit. I had no idea we were fighting, and I really wanted to try and get more coins. I was unaware of this PVP area of talbuild. I had more in my inventory but what I can remember was a bow maxed out with enchantments (all the bow ones plus unbreaking that you can get from cyphurs xp farm) an elytra with unbreaking and mending, arrows, taltickets, and the most important 5 golden coins that took me up until now to get. I later asked for sympathy and for my stuff back, in order to move on from this event, but crh didn't want to go this route so now I am reporting his behavior.  I will ignore this player later but currently, I feel wronged and believe he has broken rule #17 (trickery in bad faith). I didn't know we were fighting, I thought  he was leading me to where coins were. This would be different than just being in the outlands and fighting because he intentionally led me somewhere to kill me and I was unaware of his malicious intent.

I led you to an area that has a large banner declaring it to be a pvp ON zone. As for rule 17, I did not break an agreement, and a note in rule 17 states "does not include outsmarting people in regular gameplay."

Personally, I feel like Kale should at least get their stuff back here. In response to Kale asking about finding more coins for the event, CRH intentionally lied to them about coins in a chest in a pvp-on arena, led them to said chest, and then killed them immediately after they opened it. Whether it's literally against the rules or not, CRH admitted on Discord that he intentionally tricked them into this to get their items. From what I know CRH has been friendly with Kale in the past meaning there was no reason for them to distrust him when they asked for help. Kale deserves to have their items replaced.

If you feel Kale deserves to have their items replaced, help them get some (not like they need help with 1mil+ in their account). I didn't break any rules so other players can happily replace their items but staff have no reason to, and certainly have no reason to charge me for replacements.

For those unfamiliar with the area, here is a screenshot as you approach the entrance to the pyramid...

Hi Kale, thanks for taking the time to write this. Could you let us know how long you've been playing VillageCraft?

I have been playing since 2016, stopped for years then joined back up in mid? to late? april 2022, when I first joined crh tp to me and killed me for my head and took everything I had before my village got protected. I also at that time asked for my stuff back and never got it. I then changed dynmaps to hide since then. (hope this answers)

It sounds to me that you were aware that CRH has a propensity for killing players - based on his prior action of killing you - and you entered an area VERY clearly marked as PVP On.  There is not a violation of the rules here.  I suggest you try working out a resolution directly with CRH.

I would still like it to be known that I wasn't aware of a fighting pact or agreement. It was clear that I entrusted crh to lead me to an area. I still feel wronged and, that this isn't outmarting because there wasn't any special moves or attack that would make it a fair game. This attack was out of pure malicious intent, like I said before if my head was what he wanted I would have given it. My current balance doesn't affect this situation, I only once have been killed by crh and since then he was been helpful so there was no reason to not trust him. I ask other players for help all the time.

Just for clarification I did not tp to you to kill you, I had simply found you.

As previously stated, no rules were broke. You do not need a fighting pact or agreement to fight someone in a pvp zone. I have absolutely no idea what you mean by this not being outsmarting because "there wasn't any special moves or attack that would make it a fair game." It does not matter the intent of my attack, it was legal if it was "malicious" or not.

My opinion:
VC doesn't require a fighting agreement or pact, but instead recognizes peace agreements. In in-game chat, request a peace agreement or "no-kill" and make sure the other person agrees, then a pact is made (by default for several minutes) and we can see it in the server logs, and the Staff will enforce it should it be broken. Please see Rule 12 for that.

Otherwise what we're dealing with here is Rule 10, which is combat in PVP-On zones, which is allowed.

In my opinion no rule was broken in this instance.

Sorry you lost some items, consider privately talking to CRH to see if he'd be interested in returning anything, tho it's up to him. And in the future, consider using peace agreements to keep the peace in PVP zones.

Also, I wanted to add that Legend pointed out to me today that VC used to be very PVP-focused, but isn't all that much at the moment. I think people are a bit out of practice with handling it, probably yourself included. Let this be a lesson to everyone that PVP zones are kinda the wild west.

This server does have a long history of PvP, and although the current playerbase does not usually kill each other, it is nevertheless important to understand that VC is a survival server, and that deceit and unexpected kills do happen. This is no different really than a player finding you in the outlands and them killing you by surprising you, other than that he claimed he was trying to help you. Although that might be seen as mean, being mean is not against the rules. In the future, make sure to have peace arrangements in place, or be prepared for a fight, if you want to avoid this happening again.

If there is not any other evidence, I think we can say that staff are in agreement that no rules were broken here and it is up to you and CRH to work it out.
