Hello!
Why should you vote for me, you may ask? Well, that's a question I was asking myself just a few weeks ago when people were nominating me. I joined this server when it was about six months old, and have watched it grow up ever since. I've served this wonderful community as the systems administrator for ten years(!) this summer, and have been a member of the staff team for even longer than that. And I do see it as serving the community, trying my best to do what's best for the server and fulfilling the wishes of those who play on it. I'll admit I may not have been the most punctual at times (the update wasn't
that late, right?), but throughout the past decade I've poured my heart and soul into making this server the best place it can be. This community has always been there for me whenever I've needed it, and I do everything I can to make sure it's here for anyone else who needs it.
As far as what I plan on doing, I'll of course be running as many seasonal events as I can, with activities and exclusive items to match the theme of the season. With Halloween and Christmas looming on the horizon, there's plenty of exciting things I've got in mind that hopefully everyone can enjoy, and collect some momentos in the process. Oh and I can bring the British tradition of Bonfire night to the server on the 5th of November, because I'm sure there's absolutely nothing else important happening on that day that would make you want to watch fireworks as a distraction.
I'd also like to put a focus on minigames if elected, as I find them a fun way of getting together in small groups and spending some time doing something fun. I've been writing down ideas for years for little minigames here and there which can make for good events, but also be good for replaying a bunch of times in the weeks/months/years to follow as a small activity if you're ever bored, or as something to compete against your friends with. Growing up playing Mario Party games with my family, the short yet competitive minigames were always a great way to spend an evening, and I still find the games fun to play now whenever I visit home for a while. By bringing things like that to VC, I hope to have more things to do on the server, either alone or in groups, even if you're short on time or stuck for build ideas.
While a lot of events are good for getting the community together for a night or a weekend, I do sometimes feel like we're all somewhat isolated on the server, all doing our own thing, so one idea I had to bring the community together on a more long-term basis was the idea of a communal village (or close villages) somewhere in the new terrain. Everyone collaborating on establishing a shared city in close proximity to each other could be fun, it lets us all show off our own flair and ideas, and means every time we log into the server the area around us will have new changes to explore. Being close together would make the voice chat mod even more fun as people bump into each other, and the whole vibe of a big joint project like that could be good at getting people online more often.
I've got so many fun ideas for this server, that I've held back on somewhat in recent years to avoid stepping on the toes of the CM. And ultimately that's why I made the decision to run this time around - to have the opportunity to try out a lot of the ideas I had, and hopefully make things that are fun and enjoyable for everyone. As admin I've had a hand in implementing things for a lot of the CM events for several years, now I'm looking forward to leading that process myself, with an amazing team to help make those ideas come to life.
At the end of the day, regardless of who wins, I look forward to working with the new CM to help them make their ideas a reality on the server, in the same way I've been there to help others in the past. Good luck to everyone in this election, I know any of the candidates will do a great job!
