Blocks Reverting again
« on: 25 August 2012, 11:52:45 PM »
I dont know if its just me, but i seem to have had blocks revert a couple of times recently.

the first time i noticed, was 2 Emerald blocks in a door, and CJ replaced them, tho he had no idea where they had gone. Logblock showed that they had been placed, but never showed that they had been removed.

Now tonight, i discovered a spawner, and as usual i grabbed all the mossy cobble, and placed beacons to be able to find my way back. but 5 min later i couldn't find my beacons.

i eventually found the area, only to see that my beacons were gone, lighting removed, and the dungeon was back to untouched.

here are some photos of the logblocks of the areas effected.

note the chest in the background, tho logblock says it was destroyed, and the same with the mossy cobble flooring

i had darky come down to look at the issue, but he was as mystified as i am. any ideas on what i should do?

thanx ako for coming to look at the issue.
hopefully the bug (whatever it is) will be fixed at some point in the future.
at least i didnt lose anything of importance, but it would be nice to know when the bug is fixed by bukkit. (assuming it is a bukkit issue)

Reverted again lol.
Cj came and restored it to its former raided glory.
might just keep this area as a sort of secondary res stop then as a second home....
here's hoping it doesn't revert again

Is it possible that logblock is doing this, or do you think it's bukkit-side? I'm not sure of the extent of logblock's ability to do this kind of stuff, but I do know the plugin does replace blocks during rollbacks. Perhaps it was an erroneous or stray rollback that happened randomly.

Has anyone else reported issues like this?

From what I can it is caused by the transition from the ram to the hard disc (ie saving) probably something with the memory leak.

Is there any fix for it, or is it just a matter of waiting for the updates from bukkit and all the plugins?

I am hearing from Brain that this is still happening. Is there a way to fix it, or does the area need to be blocked off?

not sure if it is possible to block off, as its prob the same for most land generating outside a certain radius from the main occupied area, tho i might be wrong

that said, i do agree with Doc that the bug does need fixing

We (CJ) recently fixed 99% of our console errors. The remaining problems are just the current Bukkit memory leaks. Those cause chunk issues.

Let us know if this particular, and very very weird, bug keeps coming up.

i deleted my home there, as i needed it for other things more pressing then a shroom island.

i might be able to find the island again if i searched, but i dont know if the error still exists

Presumably fixed. An admin can open it up again if the problem persists.
