After the success of the
last UHC, me and
@Airborne101st45 decided to run a second event. This time though, it'll be a game where you compete in
teams! The teams will be in teams of two. During registration, you will be able to select who you go on a team with.
Please discuss this with them before entering as otherwise you probably won't be able to team up with them. You also both need to register. Chances are, it'll be very close time-wise when you do. If you have no preference over your team, you can select that option and you will be paired up with another random player at the start of the event, and you will play with them.
As last time, there is a tag on the VC server up for grabs. It is a crown in a colour of your choose, both in front of and behind your name. This tag will remain with the winner of the UHC until the next season, in which it is then passed on to the next champion. As it stands, the tag is owned by the UHC Season 1 Champion,
@Ajc610.
If one member of your team dies, the other can still continue playing the game alone, to try and win the game for their team in honour of their dead player. If both players die, the entire team is dead.
UHC is a game mode where you do not regenerate health unless you use a golden apple or potions, and is most commonly played as a PVP game in a confined map to find the last team alive.
Due to the requirements of this, it will be run on VCV in a temporary world, allowing there to be no pre-game interference from any players. The server will be whitelisted during this time to avoid interruptions, and the map will be reverted back to pre-UHC when the game is over. This will be for a maximum of 6 hours, depending on how long the game lasts.
As always, we love media input, although it is not necessary by any means. You could if you like use the new in-game streaming option to stream the entire event to twitch, or record the entire event and upload it to YouTube, either as one long video or separate videos. If you choose to pick one of these options, it will allow for interesting playbacks of battles, as well as your entire game for the rest of us to watch!
This season, we would be running the event in the
latest snapshot for 1.8, as this allows us to use various scoreboard features, the spectator gamemode, along with the new world border feature, to allow the event to run much smoother and overall run better. I will post details on how to get the snapshot after all registrations have come in and final details decided. If you sign up, you need to realise you will have to the snapshot. Do not sign up if you don't want this.
Because of the snapshots adding a spectator gamemode, it will allow people who died, or people who don't wish to take part, to spectate over the game without obstructing gameplay. This is optional, as some people may simply with to leave after they die. If you want to spectate and not take part, contact
@luisc99 or reply in here, and we'll make sure it can happen
Because the server will be whitelisted, there is a sign-up form. Due to the last UHC, it seems possibly 6PM 8PM GMT on Friday may be a good time to run the event, although if in the registration stage we find it will be inconvenient for many people, we can re-arrange the event. To what time this is where you are, you can use this converter to convert from "Greenwich Mean Time / UTC" to your local time. To sign up, simply click here and follow the instructions. If you are going to stream/record the event, please state that in the sign-up form and enter your details.Common Time Zones:> GMT = 8PM
> UK = 9PM
> Australia = 6AM
> Chicago = 3PM
> Mexico = 3PM
> Toronto = 4PM
Hope to see you in the event!
How to get the latest Snapshot:
1) Open the MC launcher, and at the bottom click "New Profile"
2) Name the profile whatever you please. I recommend something like "Snapshot"
3) Tick the box labeled "Enable experimental development versions ("Snapshots")"
4) In the "Use Version" drop-down box, scroll all the way up to the top and select "Use Latest Version". This will ensure the latest and greatest snapshot is downloaded for you.
5) Run the profile, and enjoy 1.8. Connect to VCV as usual.
EDIT: I recorded my view of the final battle. Enjoy
