What ever happened to Kovos_Datch? I've been digging through old posts and he just seems to have disappeared.

Kovos and his harlot, star, became simple-minded religious zealots and forsake all that was earthly and worldly and sought their future in some invisible sky-monster, like most religious people. I consider religion to be a mental disorder, simply because of the blind following of its adherents and mass-murder they ALL commit in the name of some precious pretend friend.

While I agree with you, through and through, I would just like to mention that Kovos did something noble in that he came on the server one day when I was on and expressed his guilt and apologies for the way he had treated us in the past. Did he do it for self-serving get-into-heaven reasons? Possibly, he did mention he wanted to be a good christian. Did I appreciate it and accept the unexpected apology anyways? Yes. Just letting you know.

I wouldn't say that I have a mental disorder nor that I have or will commit mass-murder.

http://www.thenewsnerd.com/health/apa-to-classify-belief-in-god-as-a-mental-illness/

That's nice of them... That's really, in my opinion, a sort of 'us v. them.' Like, we are normal because we don't believe in God and they are abnormal because they believe in a sky person that rains down plagues. :/ I would not call myself mentally ill just because I believe in God at all. Also, Witch mentioned that all religious people are some sort of mass-murderers, which too is an extreme generalisation. In conclusion, I don't think belief in God is a mental disorder, it's a belief and it's a part of a person's life. Homophobia may be a mental disorder that could be tied to religion, but the belief in God itself is not a mental disorder. Also, I have not gone around chopping people's heads of calling them filthy kafir infidels. Therefore, we are not all mass-murderers. That's like saying all atheists are moral-less devils roaming the Earth and sodomizing whoever they choose. Just an example of a broad and inaccurate generalisation, I don't think that. :)

I am aware that he did apologize, but an apology is only valid if it is simply to recognize the wrong you have done to the aggrieved party and seek to make amends. To apologize simply to clear your own conscience or to appease some misguided feeling of sin and atoning for it is, and of itself, a selfish act.

Perhaps I should have clarified the mass-murder thing. ALL religions are guilty of mass-murder and whipping their shills into committing said heinous acts. No, not all adherents WILL IN FACT kill in the name of their sky-monster, but ALL religions are guilty of convincing many of them to do so. Yes, even buddhism.

It's only considered a mental disorder if it "impairs one’s ability to make conscientious decisions about common sense matters", which doesn't apply to all religious people, and possibly not to you. But it absolutely does apply to some of the more hardcore ones. Simple belief or participation in a religion doesn't meet the APA's threshold for religious mental illness. Just clarifying.

The article is really short if you want to read it. Part of the reason for doing it is because religious parents are sometimes having family members killed because of some religious reason to refuse a certain type of treatment. There are innocent children or incapacitated family members dying for no good reason because Jehovah doesn't like blood transfusions.

Agreed. I think his apology may have been influenced by religious motivations, but he did specifically state that he felt he had wronged us, so he did recognize the grief he caused to other people. So I think it was a real apology on at least some level, which is why I accepted. I would not have accepted had I felt it was purely selfish. Note that I didn't accept Ender's apologies in the other thread (because it was clearly not a sincere apology for these same reasons).
