.avi to .gif

Does anyone know if it is even possible to convert an .avi to a .gif?

I have seriously be racking my brain trying to figure out how it could be done with standard Windows programs. Frankly, I don't think it can be done.

tumblr has a whole bunch of tutorials on how to make gifs in photoshop

when I get home I can send you some.
