cant get on VC

Hey, just wanted to let staff know that for over a week ive not been able to get onto the server or even the map. ive tried multiple PC if someone could help as I would like to play on VC but am unable to. thanks http://www.villagecraft-server.com/forum/Smileys/SMF-EmojiOne/kiss.gif

Could you give us some more information? Are you getting any kind of error code? Or does it simply say server not available?

Fastest possible way to take and share screenshots is with ShareX, it will take care of the saving and uploading for you. I can take a screenshot and share it with an imgur link in about 1 second.

And there's a couple others that some people use.

-Make sure you are running Minecraft 1.12.1
-Make sure the IP reads mc.villagecraft-server.com
-Try more than once because MC server browser is still a glitchy mess in 2018

No resolved host sounds like a DNS issue to me. Might we worth testing that, to see what route your computer is trying to take. It's pretty easy. In the start menu, go to all programs, then accessories, then open the command prompt. In this, type nslookup -type=A mc.villagecraft-server.com. Add a screenshot of this window too.

You could also try flushing your DNS, to force your computer to get a new copy, which might solve the issue. In the same command window, type ipconfig /flushdns, and give it a minute to clear it. Then, try connecting to the server again.

Which ISP do you use? It's possible (but highly unlikely) that they're operating purely on IPv6, in which case we'd need to look into updating our settings.

If nothing works, we can try connecting via the numeric IP instead of the domain, but that's not ideal

@Brutalfive When you say it doesn't work on other PCs, are they all on the same network?

Also, could you try this and send us a screenshot of the result? Might be able to shed some light on what's going on behind the scenes

3. In the black and white window that just opened, type exactly nslookup mc.villagecraft-server.com, making sure the spaces are in the right place
4. Hit enter
5. It will take a few seconds (or maybe more) to finish. You'll know it's done when the C:\Users\yourname>_ icon comes back at the bottom
6. Send us a screenshot of the result

For a trace route:
1. Open a new cmd window as before (steps 1-2)
2. This time, type tracert mc.villagecraft-server.com, and hit enter
3. It could take about a minute to try and find the route to the server. Give it time
4. When it says "Trace complete.", take a screenshot and send it to us

If you want a video tutorial, there's one for nslookup, and another for tracert. I don't know how good they are, but they at least show opening the cmd window and typing the commands.

@Brutalfive Hm, that's not resolving to the right ip. Try this:

1. Windows key + R again
2. In that pop-up, type ipconfig /flushdns, making sure you have the space before the /
3. Do the other two things again
4. Send us screenshots
5. Do windows key + R, cmd again, to open the black terminal
6. Type notepad %systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts. Do not edit this file in any way
7. Send us a screenshot of that too

Also, do you have steam? Might be able to help quicker than via this
