I voiced my opinion on the other thread, but my view is having less armour protection is the price to pay for being able to fly around. Having both strong protection AND flight just seems too powerful and unbalanced to me

My vote would be a no.

I think adding armor to elytra is unnecessary since the server is set to normal hardness mode.   Mobs aren't too hard to fight off without taking any damage.    Really the only time you need full armor is for PVP or fighting large amounts of mobs or boss mobs.    The only exception I can think of is a surprise creeper attack at close range or the terrifying charged creeper.

If you keep your chest plate and elytra in your backpack its very easy to switch between them for whatever seem appropriate.   That what do.
