NOTICE: Removal of MCMMO
« on: 22 August 2012, 06:01:13 PM »
VillageCraft will remove MCMMO from the server and place it as a backup in a secure archive at a random time tonight.
We believe it is compounding the lag problem that is caused largely by Bukkit.
We are sorry to those who enjoy MCMMO, but we have to try to fix this lag!

We hope you will understand,
~Ako

It's an if, not a when. And, we'll store the files as a backup in case we ever need the stats again.

I rather enjoyed my repair... I wish it could have been kept.

I got a screenshot of my stats too, just to be safe.

*Cough*Lies*Cough*
Akomine is just trying to get rid of MCMMO with out a vote for it.
Psh, Lammmee

:P

Swatted away by the world, I was atop an incredibly thin needle.
I was using the tips of my fingers to balance,
But it wasn’t until they touched you that I learned I wasn’t alone;
That alone bestowed upon me these crooked wings.
“What do you want to accomplish between life and death,” I asked,
But all you did was laugh, like an angel.
Weaving through the spaces of the hordes of buildings burning in the summer heat,
We’ll eventually descend, pulling that trigger at the very end.
And winter will cover everything.

It did things like add skills, provide additional abilities and perks to training those skills, and generally made life a lot easier. There were a few admins that loathed the plugin like no tomorrow, but overall there was a generally positive response.

Clarity:
- All 5 admins wanted the plugin gone.
- I'm not certain about a "generally positive response" since we had an old Parliament vote that originally asked if we should remove MCMMO, and there was a lot of support to remove it, like 3:1 or 2:1. Yes, some people were positive about the plugin, but we also had players begging us to never add it in the first place... so...

Anyways, it's gone.

The plugin could be the neatest/coolest thing in the world but if is is causing lag and alot of our random server stops I much rather not have it. There are a few things in MCMMO that are just not well coded such as its own version of anti cheat for the system while needed to keep things fair also caused quite a few things to break.

Also only thing I ever really like about mcmmo was the party system other then that you can do without.

I have yet to talk to more than two non-admins who didn't like it.

It was something fun to keep up
Helpful with mining too
Double drop and super breaker
Tree feller was really good
If we had a vote I think most people'd keep it
Whereas it was removed for a good reason so there's not much to do, unless bukkit gets its shit together

It was 3 Keep and 6 Remove when that vote was put up, before I added the part about just removing combat aspects.

Sorry, I should have been clearer - I meant since I came on and talked to people about it. Everyone I talked to seemed to like it - either I never see the ones that don't like it, they don't talk about it, or they changed their minds or something... dunno.

Well, It's useless to all the Admins cause they have Creative Mode, and this plugin, really helps people people like me, who don't use enchantments...
We Should've had a vote....

If it wasn't removed to fix lag I would agree and I would probably even vote to remove it... Only thing I like is the chance for multi drop...

Admins don't use creative mode as much as you think, and it makes enchantments worth something again.

We Should've had a vote....

1. The choice to add, remove, or keep MCMMO never had anything to do with us having creative mode (no plugin ever does). We clearly understand the difference between survival and creative, don't worry. We also often use Survival mode.

2. We don't make plugin decisions based on staff alone, we have a Parliament Board where you can directly voice your opinion. :)

3. Use enchantments, lol. This will actually make them more valuable.

4. We did have a vote months ago, where 6-3 voted to remove MCMMO, which is partially where our mandate to remove it this time came from. We altered the vote to ask if we should instead just remove combat, and that won afterwards. Had we not done that, the majority vote would have been to remove it completely.

And regardless, we simply moved it out of the server files into a backup to help alleviate the bukkit memory leak lag problem. It worked. It was never up to debate; we did it to help the server overall.

Sidenote: go complain to the bukkit staff to fix the memory leak!

Meaning when bukkit sorts itself out, we'll have a vote to bring MCMMO back?
