Pay for new villages

Me and Sound have been talking about how so many little villages pop up, get protection, and then sit there more or less abandoned.
While we have always reserved the right to remove crap villages that have been sitting for weeks, we very rarely do it. It's also a lot of work to investigate that kind of thing.

So:
Since we are soon voting on giving new perks to villages, such as monster-repellant (for a price), what does everyone think about adding a price tag on the creation of villages themselves? I think this would do 2 things to really help the server and our players:
-would reduce the number of crappy little unused villages.
-would encourage newer players to JOIN villages, which I think is what we need more of.

The price wouldn't be too high, but just enough so that brand new players couldnt make some dirt cubes and ask for protection.
Thoughts?

I like this idea.

This will force them, if they want guaranteed protection, to live in an existing village, and who knows, maybe even meet some people.

They can then base their operations from there. They can use it as a guaranteed /home and a safeplace.  Gives them a sense of security, encourages existing villages to grow, AND they will be safe long enough to acquire nicer materials than simple wood planks, dirt, spit and twigs.
