To be honest, I am sick of Halo games, Yeah I pre-ordered halo 4, but they really need to either stop making games or go based off the books.

The books are totally bad ass compared to the games.

I'd say play Halo 1 PC, both campaign and online. Best Halo game ever made. Halo 2 multiplayer is also fun offline. Beyond that I could care less. Halo 3 was a complete joke in my opinion, and never bothered playing it much, and never touched any of the other ones after that (so can't comment).

They kinda are in a scene. 343i is trying to unite the halo universe so that all books and game play is cannon. The 2 new halo series that are being written right now have a lot to do with halo 4.

I don't know though..the campaigns are shit.

Reach's campaign wasn't that fun but I absolutely loved halo 1 and halo 2. Halo 3 i have only played like twice because i don't have that game (took a break after halo 2). I am really looking forward to halo 4's campaign and it will be the first thing i do when i get home after the midnight launch.

I believe 343i is trying to make the game in a way someone brand new can start it and enjoy it. Someone who has played the other games will get more out of it i am sure and if you have read the books there is even more. But they don't want it to be a requirement for you to have to read the books or play the other games.

Honestly if you have the time and Scifi shooters are your thing you should start from the beginning and play all the way threw and think about reading the books. I have read the books more then once and played the games in a row more then once.

Back when i had an Xbox i got halo 1 to go online ;~). But normally no... Required a third party program and a computer.
